Toronto parents will find a good place to start if they want their youngsters to be bilingual as JINGBAO Bilingual Children's Centre opens its door officially on May 15th in a grand opening ceremony.

Mr Li Zhengmin, deputy Council General and Mr. Xu Huakun, vice Council of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Toronto attended the ceremony. Mr Li praised Canada's multi-culturalism and diversity in the community. He stated that JINGBAO's unique Mandarin/English bilingual programs will encourage young children to understand and appreciate different cultures. It will also provide them, Mr Li said, with an edge in their future careers.

Also present was Mr. Everton Lewis, the community relationship officer from Toronto Catholic District School Board. He mentioned that JINGBAOTM is an example of "good community relationships" - school board should utilize community resources and expertise to bring more variety of programs to the parents and children. JINGBAO's bilingual program is "a novel idea", said Mr Lewis, "Mandarin is becoming a critical language that we should encourage every single child to learn."

Ms. Jennifer Chang, the Managing Director of Toronto Mandarin School, passionately shared her visions about the school's future. She expressed her confidence about the quality of the Mandarin program delivered by Toronto Mandarin School and JINGBAO. She said, "ours (JINGBAO's unique program) will benefit the Chinese community as well others." She shared the exciting news with everyone that the second JINGBAO will be opening next September 2008 in another location in the city's east side.
