Grand Opening Ceremony of JINGBAO Bilingual Preschool
Toronto parents will find a good place to start if they want their
youngsters to be bilingual as JINGBAO Bilingual Children's Centre opens its door
officially on May 15th in a grand opening ceremony.
Mr Li Zhengmin, deputy Council General and Mr. Xu Huakun, vice Council of the Consulate
General of the People's Republic of China in Toronto attended the ceremony. Mr Li
praised Canada's multi-culturalism and diversity in the community. He stated that
JINGBAO's unique Mandarin/English bilingual programs will encourage young children
to understand and appreciate different cultures. It will also provide them, Mr Li
said, with an edge in their future careers.
Also present was Mr. Everton Lewis, the community relationship officer from Toronto
Catholic District School Board. He mentioned that JINGBAOTM is an example of "good
community relationships" - school board should utilize community resources and expertise
to bring more variety of programs to the parents and children. JINGBAO's bilingual
program is "a novel idea", said Mr Lewis, "Mandarin is becoming a critical language
that we should encourage every single child to learn."
Ms. Jennifer Chang, the Managing Director of Toronto Mandarin School, passionately
shared her visions about the school's future. She expressed her confidence about
the quality of the Mandarin program delivered by Toronto Mandarin School and JINGBAO.
She said, "ours (JINGBAO's unique program) will benefit the Chinese community as
well others." She shared the exciting news with everyone that the second JINGBAO
will be opening next September 2008 in another location in the city's east side.
